Supporting cement major’s transition to low-carbon production

Identified and assessed viable interventions across the production value chain to accelerate the transition toward low-carbon cement manufacturing.

The client, a major cement manufacturer, was looking to identify further opportunities to decarbonise its manufacturing process. In its journey to reduce emissions, the client sought to explore and evaluate viable opportunities across their production value chain. With this background, the client engaged Xynteo to identify and assess potential interventions for reducing carbon emissions in cement production.

The initiative

The key objectives for the engagement:

  • Identify different potential intervention points within the cement production value chain
  • Assess potential interventions for reducing carbon emissions manufacturing

These objectives were the first phase of implementing low-carbon solutions in cement manufacturing that will result in a lower embodied carbon footprint during construction, thereby enabling sustainable construction practices.

Xynteo’s role

Value chain analysis:

  • Created a comprehensive mind-map to identify key processes and business-as-usual scenarios

Opportunity assessment:

  • Filtered and prioritised emission reduction options into actionable interventions

Stakeholder engagement:
