Xynteo was engaged by a leading automation business that recognised a responsibility to be a leader in socially responsible automation
The opportunity
Robotics holds vast positive potential from helping tackle climate change, create new jobs, improve efficiency, de-risk supply chains and improve workplace safety. Yet, automation through robotics poses its own challenges to workforces, workplaces and ecosystems. These include significant negative social and economic impacts in regions and communities where automation could drive job loss and displacement.
Our partner recognised that they had a critical strategic and commercial opportunity and responsibility to be a leader in this space.

The solution
Xynteo collaborated on a research and design project to learn about the potential for socially responsible automation (SRA) in Europe. The initiative looked to explore, assess, and prioritise specific opportunities to enhance strategic and commercial positioning in this area.
Exploration focused on understanding how the business can innovate and lead, combining primary qualitative interview data with secondary quantitative data to uncover patterns and implications from an economic, technological, societal, political and ethical perspectives. At the conclusion of the exploration phase, Xynteo led an innovation process to co-create a set of intervention concepts.
The results
Following the innovation workshop, two interventions were selected to be developed into blueprints for delivery. These could be developed into pilot projects that provide data and success stories to share with business’ customers, policymakers and future talent, effectively positioning the company as a leader in SRA.
The project was capped off with the team delivering an insights summary report, which captures the findings from the exploration phase and shared them with key stakeholders to be taken forward.
