Bringing a spiritual dimension to this year’s Exchange on October 9th-10th, author, professor and Buddhist studies authority Robert Thurman is now confirmed as a speaker.
Thurman, a gifted communicator, uses his humour and intelligence to make complex ideas easily understood and more relevant to our daily lives. His perspectives will be much needed as we explore the challenges of leadership.
At the Exchange’s Marketplace, we will run a series of interactive Master Classes, where gifted experts will teach us what they know best. Here, Thurman will share how we can leverage Buddhist learnings to become better leaders to those around us and break with the current leadership “paralysis” to drive real change.
Named as one of Time Magazine’s “25 most influential Americans” in 1997, Thurman is now the Jey Tsong Khapa professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University in New York City. Recognised as a pioneering translator of Buddhist literature, he translated the Vimalakirti Sutra, a Mahayana Buddhist sutra, from the Tibetan Kanjur into English. Thurman also serves as president of Tibet House US, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting Tibetan civilisation, and as president of the American Institute of Buddhist Studies.
