How to tackle a wicked problem

As you can see, a wicked problem is unique, it is connected inextricably to other problems, it has multiple root causes, and different people see it from different perspectives.

Systems thinking is a powerful approach to understand and tackle wicked problems. It is specifically geared to help us work through complex system problems, with multiple causes and problematic interconnectedness.

The first step of systems thinking is system mapping – this involves drawing a visual representation of the problem system to understand all the dynamics occurring in that system.

This toolkit contains all the information you need to start system mapping and become a systems thinker!
