We are pleased to announce that the CEO and President of Yara, Svein Tore Holsether, will speak at this year’s Xynteo Exchange, to be held on 9-10 October in Oslo. Holsether is also the inaugural Chair of the Xynteo Exchange.
Heading up the world’s leading fertiliser company and a provider of environmental solutions, Holsether is passionate about promoting the involvement of businesses in working towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a global business leader and advocate of responsible business and inclusive growth, and with a value chain touching millions around the world, he holds an important voice in the sustainable business agenda.
During the Exchange, Holsether will discuss the mandate for this year’s Yara open innovation Studio, which is investigating a set of global challenges that relate to the food system including: how the global food system can become more sustainable; how we can re-capture lost value in the food system; commercialising digital services and scaling the API economy and collaborations to achieve the 2030 climate goals.
He will also reflect on developments since last year’s Exchange, during which participants at the Yara Studio explored systemic challenges including: increasing the adoption of digital technologies amongst smallholder farmers; incentivising a shift to green products/production and building a new generation of agri-preneurs in Africa.
One of the concepts generated last year, for example, has developed into Generation Africa, a programme that provides agri-preneurs with the necessary education, technology and capital to achieve scale and address non-farm job creation.
Holsether is also a commissioner and member of the Business and Sustainable Development Commission and a member of the executive committee for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
