The core of India2022's work is focused on developing strategies to solve for some of India's largest environmental and social challenges, at the intersection of societal need and commercial viability. To action this, it is crucial to bring together thought leaders, experts, doers and other key voices to deliberate on the state of these issues in India today, and what can be done to create long-lasting, positive impact. It was inspiring to see the passion and willingness of our tribe and guests at last year's Xynteo Exchange/India2022 to collaborate on the key challenges that we are working on in India.
Since the 2018 Exchange, the India2022 Coalition has laid a strong foundation to create proof points on the ground. With our India2022 partners – Baker Hughes, a GE Company, Hindustan Unilever, Hindalco – an Aditya Birla Group Company, Cyient, Tata Trusts, Shell and TechnipFMC, we have been able to accelerate our work in four thematic areas – Healthcare, Energy, Waste to Value and Sustainable Mining. Today, we have sixteen projects in development that range from converting urban waste to energy, creating livelihood opportunities for people in mining areas, driving behaviour change amongst school children and their families on waste segregation, and creating go-to-market strategies for medical technology devices to reach the last mile in India.
Given the expanse of our focus, it is important to hear and learn from leaders and implementers, which is why at this year's Xynteo Exchange/India2022 hosted by Baker Hughes, a GE company, we will aim to further advance our work and hope to include those attending the Exchange, a part of our journey. We will focus on how to scale collaborative, commercial and sustainable solutions covering four macro-scale challenges: Accelerate penetration of green energy solutions; establish working models of circularity, in particular plastic waste; deliver high quality and accessible healthcare; and understand safety risks posed to and in mining communities. The Exchange is a time for us to pause, reflect, regroup and reinvent growth together.
Human values, social responsibility and visionary leadership will be at the core of all conversations at this year's Exchange. This deliberate attempt to honour and encourage action is showcased in our programme as well as in our choice of venue for the Xynteo Exchange/India2022 this year - the Nehru Centre, a Mumbai landmark that stands for the values of collaboration and inclusive growth.
