Olympic gold medallist and UNICEF ambassador Johann Olav Koss is confirmed to speak at the Xynteo Exchange 2019 in Oslo on 9th-10th October.
Koss will join a session celebrating unlikely heroes, where we’ll learn from him and other exceptional heroes about why they made the choices they did. We will focus on what inspired them to stand for something, and then do something to create the change they were after.
Amongst a number of speed skating wins, Koss earned worldwide fame when he received three gold medals at the 1994 Winter Olympics held in his home country of Norway. This feat also secured him the Sports Illustrated “Sportsman of the Year” award.
Following his speed skating career, Koss founded the Canadian-based humanitarian organisation Right to Play. The organisation operates in over 20 countries, using sports and play as a development tool for children and youth in disadvantaged areas.
The former athlete is also involved in the Olympics for Life project, which celebrates Olympians who have left a positive legacy on the world, and was elected Vice President of Norway’s Olympic and Paralympic Committee, which organises all national sports federations.
Earlier this year, Koss co-founded Playbook17, a venture partnership accelerating mission-driven entrepreneurs that apply technology towards scalable solutions for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
