17 Nov Maurizio Vecchione encourages business leaders to combine forces with philanthropists!
Maurizio Vecchione, EVP of global good and research, Intellectual Ventures spoke at the final Marketplace at the Xynteo Exchange/Norway.
He talked about how philanthropic organisations can work with private enterprises to help them maintain a balance between turning a profit and staying connected to their deeper mission and purpose. “Think about private and philanthropic partnerships as you build your initiative,” he said.
Maurizio encouraged us to broaden our perspective on technology and digitisation. Some people think that technology is only about smartphones and computers. “But it’s actually only a tiny portion of the innovation ecosystem that could and should be tapped for opportunities.” he said.
He highlighted the need to collaborate not only across sectors, but across disciplines, too. “The challenges of today are going to be solved by a multi-disciplinary approach, where you are going to need to look at the biology, next to the physics, next to the engineering, next to the IT.”
Maurizio’s address formed part of a session where leaders shared their experiences of connecting talent, capital and ideas to drive a new kind of growth.
