13 Feb Chetna Sinha discusses the role of business beyond philanthropy and CSR
Business has a unique role to play in addressing human needs, thanks to its innovative capacity, capabilities and ability to take innovation to scale.
Speaking at the Leadership Vanguard exchange in Mumbai, Chetna Sinha advised participants to always design solutions for the customers’ benefit, and never for the company’s comfort. “Create an institution where people are listened to,” she said and “never provide poor solutions to poor people.”
Chetna is a banker, farmer and activist working for social change in some of the poorest and drought-stricken areas of rural India. She is the founder of India’s first co-operative bank owned by women – the Mann Deshi Mahila Bank.
“Listen to the systems and be ready to create a new ecosystem,” she said.
